Here we are, the year 2025! I spend the last few days contemplating a bit about my (digital) life choices, is it not a complete waste of time to spend so much time with, to be honest, completely obsolete technology? I mean, nobody will hire me for my time sunk into Forth programming or my dabbling into Interlisp. Nobody NEEDS today the knowledge how to get an harddisk running on an Atari ST or how to format a floppy on a C64. Why the heck i am sinking so much time into it?

Well, i came to the conclusion that it is not THAT different from gardening or foraging. You don't NEED to garde or forage (at least here in the western world), but it is somewhat more of a hobby. It's in a way a method for conservating a craft that otherwise would be forgotten in a while. And who knows? Perhaps some time in the future the day will come where there IS a job offer for maintainig some legacy product... i mean, the US nuclear weapons are running on 8" floppies, so, at least there is hope ;-)

The christmas days are over and - at least until new years eve hits - everything is back to normal(-ish) again. I will not bore you, dear reader, with stories about my christmas days, let's just say they were ok, everyone had fun and we all ate way too much.

As ever with the end of the year i am contemplating a bit about the changes this year brought, and... i think the changes were mostly positive. At the very minimum i have finally noticed that the web is NOT the dead, platform dependand commercialised hellhole that i thought it had become.

I am now removing a few graphics from the homepage again because i think it looks a bit too... i don't know, not right i guess. Also i like to have the website look better on lynx.

Funny: For years on end i thought the web of personal homepages and little themed sites were gone, but since i started diving ever deeper into this rabbit hole i dig up more and more treasures. And interestingly: Many of those sites are seemingly active, not just remnants of a time long gone. I am currently thinking about shutting down my gotosocial instance and leaving the fediverse (as other social media before) for good because i notice the same bad habits i had before forming again.

Finally brought the page online, but still there is much to tinker and fill with content. But alas: Here it is, my new website! After some thinking i decided to host it on Neocities instead of my VPS because... well... i have a bad history of letting contracts expire.
